You don’t have to sacrifice good design to use Wordpress. I just had a prospect ask for some samples to see before and after images of what level of design we can customize. I thought others might have similar questions so I copied the contents of that e-mail below. Enjoy!

Call it luck or just good timing. I am working on a web site for a small book publisher in the White Mountains called Bondcliff Books.  While the site is live, it isn’t 100% finished yet as the client is still uploading inventory details and we still have some final tasks to complete. Because of this, we haven’t performed any search engine optimization or online promotion so far. However, that didn’t stop a buyer for PBS’s online store shopPBS.org, of all places, to send an e-mail via the web site, expressing an interest in carrying a book of his in their store!

I am not sure how this buyer found my client’s web site but it goes to show that there are always people looking for our products and services online and if we are not there, we’ll never know if a great opportunity has passed us by.

Hubspot.com just published this revealing post on their blog about the top ten ways buyers find professional service providers. Instead of repeating the findings below, you can visit their post here. What I found interesting (but not surprising) is that 3 of the top 10 methods are all online.

  • Industry Web Site Article or Story (53%)
  • Internet Search (55%)
  • Website (58%)

Education-based marketing is becoming more and more critical for B2B service providers. In this age of open and free information on the Internet, businesses of all sizes should think of themselves as publishers in addition to whatever their primary service offerings are. Publish your testimonials, white papers, press releases and marketing videos online. In most cases, it costs nothing to redistribute this content online and the potential benefits can be very measurable!

I just watched a one hour, webinar on the factors you should be aware of when you are considering a web site redesign. Many companies and marketers will propose a web site redesign just because ‘its been a while’ since the last redesign. Find out how this can be a mistake and why making your site look ‘pretty’ is not as important as making it convert visitors to customers.

The webinar can view viewed here.

How to Promote your Facebook Fan Page

by Link on January 6, 2010

I just read a great article on how to get more Fans of your Facebook Fan page.  The full article can be found here and it touches on many basics worth remembering.

  1. Suggestion your Page to your Friends.
  2. Connect your blog’s RSS feed to your Page.
  3. Cross ‘pollinate’ with Twitter.
  4. Make it personal. Share some photos and video on your Fan page to add a little human element.

I realize some of these are rather basic but sometimes it is the basics that we all need to be reminded of.

Happy New Year to everyone and thanks for following me. I wish the best to you and you business in 2010.
